The Hyptone limited edition series of 12" singles is on! Conceived as a throwback to the days when a certain generic jacket meant BUY! We can remember those days only too well, when every single Friday meant a stop at NYC's Downstairs Records, then a quick jump down to Rock and Soul, keeping in mind that we still needed at least two hours to hang around Vinyl Mania and listen to Manny Lehman spin all the best new records! This was also back when their "DOR" store was still open and we could get the latest in "Dance-Oriented Rock"! This meant you would have to trudge up Carmine Street just to buy a New Order 12" and would then invariably be exposed to any number of other amazing new records by the devilish fiend who worked in there. Much of our measly salary was typically dropped every week in all of these places (we then went home and used our mixer to make amateurish cassettes and tried scratching...) but it was the local working DJ's that really kept those places going. Very often they would even buy TWO copies of a single so they could "work the record" (i.e. same record on two turntables). The Hyptone series is dedicated to them! (White labels boo!!)
